God Did Not Call Us To Disgrace Us

I have seen many men who started well, got huge public attention and elevation in life but messed up later on at the end. I have also seen people who started on a bad note, they were despised and struggled in life and later got elevation and attention but still messed up at the end. And I have also seen those who kept the faith, maintained their dignity and finished well. Whatever be the case, God did not call us to disgrace us. You need to stay connected to God and receive the grace for completion. God said He will finish and perfect what He has started in your life so stay connected.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God Himself declared: “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

I have not seen anyone who walked with God closely, shunned evil, lived a holy life and paid obeisance to the word of God and remained to live a disgraceful life and struggled in life.

Our walk with God is full of love. The whole of the Bible is full of the promises of God for humanity when we obey His Word and shun evil, live a holy life and according to the purpose and will of God.

God did not call us to disgrace us. You may be disgraced in many instances for being a Christian but that does not mean that God called you to live a disgraceful life. You may be going through many temptations and many hard times in your life but God did not call you to disgrace you.

The end of one’s life is far better than the beginning. The plans of God are not to disgrace us but to prosper us and give us a better future. God is concerned more about your end, your future more than the painful and disgraceful experiences you have passed through in your life.

Whatever the challenges you are going through, remember that God did not call us to disgrace us.

10 Ways People Distort Information And Report It Wrongly

Yesterday, I wrote on Facebook about a terrible accident scene I had witnessed when returning from a preaching appointment that got me worried and thinking about the perished souls. Within three hours, the information posted on Facebook was distorted and reported wrongly and people began calling in distress and panic to know which hospital I was.

I had to correct them to know that I wasn’t involved in any accident but was only lamenting over the accident scene I saw. In my sober reflections of how the information was distorted and wrongly reported, I caught some wisdom and understanding about the 10 ways people distort information and report it wrongly.

10 Ways People Distort Information And Report It Wrongly

  1. People Who Read Only Headlines

Most of the people that called me either read the headlines or were told of the headlines someone read. It is a dangerous thing to report half information without knowing the full story. You are likely to distort the information, tell lies and add your own version of the story when asked to give further details. Headlines are not full stories and most of the times, most headlines could be totally different from the actual story.

  1. People Who Only Read Few Lines

I now came across a group of people who also read a few lines but decided not to read till the end to know what the story was about. This caliber of people should have read the whole information and knew what it was about but decided to stop reading and call me to ask for the same details they did not finish reading. Interesting, right?

  1. People Who Read Without Understanding

And yet there is another group of people who read the whole story or write-up but without understanding. Sometimes, they will pass comments like “Oh, I read it but didn’t pay attention to the full details so I can’t say much about it”. So why were you wasting your time to read?

  1. People Who Read But Decide To Report It The Way They Want

Know that it is a bad practice to report any event or story the way you want it which is different from the actual news item. Exhibit some level of professionalism when reporting.

  1. People Who Read But Deliberately Distort It For Malice

This is another group of people who will read the whole content and only capitalized on a few lines to spread falsehood and tarnish someone’s image.

  1. The Clueless People Who Won’t Read But Depend on Hearsay and Falsehood To Make News Of It

A lot of people fall within this group. They are virtually clueless about the whole thing but prefer not to read and depend rather on hearsays and falsehood.

  1. When The Story Is Not Clear And Ambiguous, Rate of Distortion Is Higher

When the writer could not communicate his story in a precise and a concise language for readers to easily understand, the rate of distortion is normally higher. Everyone may interpret it in his or her own way since the writer left more room for ambiguity than clarity of purpose.

  1. When People Decide To Tell Lies

Sometimes, I wonder why some people are privy to the right information where they could even be eye witnesses to some events but may decide to tell lies, distort the truth and report a different thing altogether. That is a bad practice.

In a study by a Canadian, Craig Silverman entitled “Lies, Damned Lies, and Viral Content,” he found that misinformation actually spread at greater rates than corrective content. A news article from NationalReport.com, for example, claimed that a Texas town had been quarantined due to an Ebola outbreak. This was not true, yet it was shared 339,000 times.

  1. People Who Pick And Choose Only A Few Portion And Not Holistically

And here is another group that may read the whole story but decide to choose which area they may care to read or capture and report.

  1. Those Who Will Not Verify But Share It On Social Media

The last group is the larger group of people who quickly share almost anything they find on the internet and believe that’s the truth. This group of people spread falsehood and share the false information more than even the truth.

Are there more ways people distort information and report it wrongly? Share your experience with us.

7 Lessons To Learn From Shaunae Miller’s Diving To Win Gold Medal

The Bahamas born, Shaunae Miller dived across the finish line to deny Allyson Felix a fifth Olympic gold medal in the thrilling erstwhile women’s 400 – meter final at Rio 2016. She plunged over the finishing line to beat Felix, the world champion, into second place ahead of Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson in third place.

Miller’s dive stirred some wild controversies on social media and on the internet. Former Oympian, Michael Johnson tweeted: “Shaunae Miller’s dive was to recover from falling. A sprinter knows the quickest way across the line and is a well-timed lean. Trust me on that”.

Despite the controversies surrounding Miller’s diving and robbing the world champion of the gold medal, there are some lessons to be learnt from the story.

7 Lessons To Learn From Shaunae Miller’s Diving To Win Gold Medal

  1. Stay Focused Even When Falling In Life

In what seemed like Miller was falling on her truck, she kept her focus and never veered off her truck. Falling in a race is normal but you have to stay focused on the finishing line. Some people give up too early in life. The fact that you have fallen does not mean you cannot finish the race and emerge as the winner.

  1. Sometimes, The Way To The Top Is Down

Life is full of so many ups and downs. Ironically, sometimes the only way to get to the top is to go down in life first. This is why many people get discouraged and cannot stand the disgrace and failure that stare them in the face looking at how far they had come. Many people were broken hearted, disappointed, abused, used, became a failure and declared practically bankrupt and useless before they rose back to fame.

Your failure in life is meant to develop a tough skin for you to handle future hard times so that you will not be crushed down by any storm in life.

  1. Change Your Strategy When Failure Stares In The Face

Do not be stuck in life when failure tries to rob you of the gold medal that awaits your victory. You have to be a strategist. Have multiple action plans in life. What are the plans that you have in mind and on paper to bounce back when failure bumps into you? Always do well to have a backup plan.

  1. Timing Is Important In Winning Your Game

Miller’s dive would have amounted to nothing if she had dived at the wrong place. It would have been a wasted effort which would have attracted public ridicule and serious insults.

  1. Determination Can Turn Your Disgrace Into Grace

It is very difficult and painful to lose at the finishing line after all the struggles in life. Miller’s story depicts people who mess up, fall in life and lose opportunities when they almost about to experience a major breakthrough in life. Your determination can turn your disgrace into grace.

  1. Never Allow The Big Names To Scare And Rob You

Isn’t it sometimes scaring and worrying to compete in the same game with the likes of Usain Bolt and other world champions? In the case of Shaunae Miller, she was competing with the world title holder, Allyson Felix and orher competitors, but she decided not to be scared with their fame and records.

  1. Never Accept Failure

Shaunae Miller did not accept failure when it stared her in the face. She decided to see victory and win the golden medal. Life will present you with opportunities, failures, disgrace, pains and many worse things. The truth of the matter is this: it is what you accept that remains in your life. Never accept failure and never stop pressing onto your goals.

Are there more lessons to learn from Shaunae Miller’s diving to win the gold medal?

Your Breakthrough or Breakdown Depends on How You Treat People

Many people think they have the right and the power to insult, talk harshly to people and do all manner of things. Do not think you can just talk to people harshly anyhow you want so long as you are the boss or manager and your subordinates or those under you are obliged to obey and keep quiet.

Be careful how you treat and talk to people more especially, those above you and those under you because they may have the information leading to your breakthrough or breakdown in life.

Naaman, the whole Army Commander of Syria (2 Kings 5), would have died with his disgraceful leprosy without any solution if the little maid in the house hadn’t given the information leading to his healing and total restoration.

The information for Naaman’s healing and breakthrough didn’t come from the Ministry of Health, neither is it from the Ministry of Information nor the National Intelligence Unit or even the BNI. Sometimes, the people you respect so much and think can be of help to you in times of need may not even have any idea of where you can get the solution you want. Your solutions may be with the maid you don’t respect in the house, the security man you have been insulting or the errand boy you think is empty headed. Yes, they may be useless to you but they have vital and useful information that you rather need.

Today, there are many people like Naaman with character, attitudinal, spiritual and physical leprosies. It is a disgraceful thing about them that destroys their lives, business, marriage and other important things in life but they are not humble enough to be approached and given any suggestions and solutions.

Sometimes, it takes humility, respect and kindness to get the breakthrough that you want but not through any strategic business plan or the connections you have in life.

Saul became king in Israel (1 Samuel 9-13) because his servant knew a man of God and led him to see the Prophet Samuel. Surprisingly, the servant had to give his own pocket money to Saul as offering because Saul had no money on him by then to be given to the prophet. Your servants or those under you will be willing to assist you to succeed in life to make life worth living if you treat them well. On the other hand, they may withhold information from you and may deliberately do things to punish you and make life a living hell for you since you have been verbally abusing them and making their lives miserable.

Do not think you have all the professionals, diplomats and technocrats around you; do not think you are well connected to people in life so you do not need others who are not even recognized in the society. You may not have it all and that is why you need someone in your life to recommend and connect you for a breakthrough. The people that connected Naaman and Saul were not people of high nobility but a maid and a servant.

The mystery here from these two stories is that, the people who may sometimes be of great help to you leading to your breakthrough may not be the type of people who are of high reputation and can assist you financially. They may not have the money but they have something that your money wasn’t able to do for you for all this while.

It is very important to know that you may not be lucky to be in leadership positions all the time. You may not be rich forever. Tomorrow may be the turn of the very people you disrespected and treated them with disdain and they may do same to you in revenge. Tomorrow will be the turn of the very people you may regard as useless to occupy higher positions somewhere and you will need their assistance or authorization for something you have been fasting and praying for a breakthrough.

If you treat and talk to people well, others will also give you a special treat. Make life easy and worth living for others and they will also make life a living testimony and a memorial for you.

My good friend, treat and talk to people well because they may have the information leading to your breakthrough or breakdown in life, business, marriage, education and any aspect of life.

Life gets better when we respect and treat each other well. Remember to treat others as you want them to treat you.

Do You Mind Waiting?

Do you mind waiting on the Lord until His promises manifest in your life? Do you mind still holding on to His Word no matter what happens in life?

The devil may leave you and start minding his own business when he realizes that no matter how long the blessings and promises of God may delay in your life, you will not mind waiting for them.

5 Elements of Waiting

  1. Purpose

Do you know the reason for which you are waiting on the Lord? If you know the purpose of God for your life, then you will not be tired for waiting even if the promises for your life are overly delayed. In Jeremiah 29:11, God assures us that He knows the plans He has for us, they are good and peaceful plans to lead us to a prosperous future. Do you know the purpose of God for your life? If only you know, then you will not mind waiting on the Lord.

  1. Trust

You will not wait for someone that long if you really don’t trust the person. The good news is that, our God never fails. Keep your hope and trust in God alive for He never fails and disappoints. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6)

  1. Faith

Sometimes, your unwavering faith in God and His Word has the power to pull down your blessings earlier than you think. Without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord (Hebrews 11:6). Those who do not mind waiting on the Lord are those who are not just waiting but having expectations with faith.

  1. Patience

There is no way you can wait for someone if you do not have the patience to wait for that long. Many people know how to fast and pray to request for some blessings but do not know how to wait and receive the blessings from God. It seems like many people are in a hurry in life too much and cannot simply afford to wait on the Lord.

As a result, many people resort to so many devilish means for quick success, wealth, marriage and childbearing. Do you mind waiting on the Lord? If yes, then be patient enough. Has He not said it and will He not do it for you?

  1. Credible Records

If Bill Gates, Richard Branson, President Obama and any of the world’s richest men and popularly known philanthropists had promised to meet you at dinner and give you $10m, I’m sure you will surely wait until the person arrives even to the deepest time of the night. Why will you wait? These people have a trade mark, a good image, a brand and a trusted reputation or records in these benevolent acts.

Check the records, God never disappoints. If only you do not mind waiting then He will surely visit you.

Do you mind waiting on the Lord no matter what happens? Do you have the patience and the faith to still trust Him even if the blessings are overly delayed?

Do not be in a hurry in life. God’s timings are perfect. No shortcut in life ever pays well. If you do not mind hoping, trusting and having the patience to wait enough then you may miss the mark.

Once again, do you mind waiting?

20 Reasons Why You Should Never Insult Someone.

Can you beat your chest and say you have never insulted someone before? To insult someone is to speak or use disrespectfully or scornfully abusive remarks on the person.

It seems insults are gradually becoming part of some people’s lives where they can hurl insults on people upon the least provocation. You should not be proud of your chronic habit of insulting people either deliberate or unconsciously. If you are quick tempered and easily get angry, then work on it. When done reading, share your experience and thoughts with us about the 20 reasons why you should never insult someone.

20 Reasons Why You Should Never Insult Someone.

  1. Your Words Can Kill or Give Life

Someone people commit suicide because of the defeatist and discouraging words spoken by others into their lives. The words that proceed out of your mouth are more powerful to build and to destroy than any weapon of mass destruction. The next time you get angry at those who use guns, bombs and other weapons to destroy, remember that you might be using your tongue to do worst. Words are life, spirit and death. Proverbs 18:21 says life and death are in the power of the tongue.

Little words of motivation can cause people to do exploits, give them hope to know that no matter the ugly circumstance, there is still a brighter side of life.

  1. Insult Hurts A Lot

How did you feel the last time someone insulted you either for an offence you did not commit or something you did? Many people cannot stand insults especially when it embarrasses and disgraces them. Out of hurt and pain, they shed tears. You aren’t doing yourself any good if you are a boss and you think insults make you powerful and take control. You rather have a weak character as a leader if you resort to insults to show you are powerful and in control.

Remember that people may forgive you for hurting them but they may not forget how your insults made them feel on that day.

  1. Your Insults Can Take You To Hell

The Bible emphatically says that he who insults his brother: “You fool” shall be in danger of hell fire (Matt. 5:22). You have no idea the damages you are causing yourself for using many insulting and abusive words on people. Stop insulting people with words such as stupid, fool, bitch, crazy, moron, etc.

  1. You Will Account For it on Judgment Day

Do you know that you will account for every idle, abusive and insulting words you speak against someone on judgment day? By your words, you shall be either justified or condemned (Matt. 12:36-37). In Matt. 5:22, anyone who says to his brother raca (meaning worthless person) stands to be judged one day?

  1. To Insult Someone Is To Insult The Image of God and His Works

One of the many reasons why you must not insult anyone is the fact that people are created in the image of God. All creations are His handy works so to insult someone is to insult God and His works. In Genesis 1:27, the Bible outlines that we are created in God’s own image.

In Ephesians 2:10, the Bible said we are God’s own handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Who are you to insult someone as “ugly”?

  1. Know That You Cannot Create Any Human Being

Know that you cannot create any human being so you must not insult people based on their disabilities, background, race, weakness and other factors. No one created himself; you are also created. Never condemn and insult what you know you can never do on this earth.

It is by grace that you are endowed with beauty, brains and money. Never look down on other people and insult them. To insult people is to insult the intelligence of God for not creating them the way you want it.

  1. You May Be Insulting And Cursing Yourself

It is very dangerous to rain insults and curses on people when you are angry. Like Abraham, some people have covenants with God, anyone who insults or curses them; will also be cursed by God (Gen. 12:31). It is not anyone that you can insult and go scot-free. You have no idea of the covenant God has with that person.

  1. Insults Could Lead to Bitter Quarrels And Fight

Most of the quarrels, fight, vengeance and wars that break out start with a little insult that slipped out of the mouth unguarded. You see, your words have the power to build, make peace, tear down and wipe away an entire generation. You should not be proud of any unguarded words that tear down friendships, relationships, marriages, businesses, families and others.

  1. Destroys People’s Image As Well As Yours

Regardless of whoever you are, you lose respect and your image immediately you open your mouth and insult people. No matter how right you are and how wrong the other party may be, it doesn’t warrant you to insult them. The words that come out of your mouth summarize your values in life. Do not lose your hard won respect because of unguarded words.

  1. You Also Have Your Own Weakness Just Like Others

One of the reasons not to insult people is that you are also human with weaknesses too. You can insult someone as foolish or stupid all because their field of expertise, character and training might be lower than yours. No one is a superhuman. You might also act very stupid one day on something outside your field of jurisdiction.

In Ephesians 4:2, the Bible encourages us to tolerate one another in humility and love because we are all human subject to weaknesses.

  1. To Insult Means You Lack Patience

If only you are patient enough to control your anger and temper, then you will realize that there are better ways to handle what you just did with insults. Patience is a virtue; without it, you will destroy people and later regret. Insults are clear indications that you have weak moral values. Your ability to be patient enough to handle issues is a mark of Christian maturity which is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit one must yearn for (Gal 5:22-23).

  1. Destroys Relationship

Unguarded words have caused true friends to become real enemies in life. Insults destroy relationship. Do not take delight in insulting people and expect them to be laughing with you. If they do, their laughter may be hypocritical. They may not forget.

  1. Blocks Future Opportunity

Today, you are the boss so you choose to use any kind of vile words on people. Tomorrow will be the turn of your subordinates to be the bosses somewhere that you will need their assistance. Insults break relationship and block future opportunities. Live peacefully with people so that they can easily be of help to you and your family some years to come.

If possible, live peacefully with everyone (Proverbs 12:18)

  1. Insults Only Satisfy You and Your Ego

Do not satisfy your big ego to insult people. Insulting your subordinates or people under you is not a sign that you are powerful and that you are the boss in charge. It rather satisfies your own selfish interest. Using insults to cause fear in your workers to respect and kowtow to your orders is a sign of weak leadership style.

  1. You Feel Guilty When You Later Realize Your Mistakes

If you insult someone out of anger and later realize it was no fault of theirs, you will later feel stupid and guilty. You now have to face the issue of swallowing your pride to apologize.

  1. People Don’t Easily Forget How You Make Them Feel

People will remember you for two things: the solutions you bring them or the troubles you cause. Let people remember you and bless God for your life and not remember the pains and the tears they shed all because of you. Remember that people can easily forgive you but they won’t forget how you made them feel.

  1. Disappoint Your Followers and Mentees

You have no idea of the kind of people who are motivated by your works and are following your footsteps. You kill the confidence, pride and the hope of your followers and mentees if you easily insult people. It is a sign of weak moral values.

  1. Your Insults Can be a Stumbling Block to Others

I have come across many people who have decided to do or not to do something due to the derogatory remarks of other people. Let your words be the source of someone’s inspiration but not desperation.

  1. Do Not Pay Evil for Evil or Insult for Insult

The Bible warns Christians not to pay evil for evil or insult for insult (1 Peter 3:9). Do not speak evil or insulting words about anyone (James 4:11-12)

  1. When Insults Become Part of You, it Simply Shows That You Are Not Trained Well.

The words that frequently proceed out of your mouth reveal a lot about your character, religious beliefs and training and how you were brought up.

Now that you are done reading, can you tell us your experience or thoughts about the Top 20 Reasons Why You Should Never Insult Someone?

10 Things Every Ghanaian Should Know About the Accra Floods

Each year, residents of Accra are reminded of the terrifying nature of floods that come with so many gory stories whenever the country experiences any form of downpour. Sadly, several parts of the capital cities in Ghana remain inaccessible to commuters and drivers during torrential rains, causing much distress and panic.

The floods, which have become recurring in nature, are characterized with dizzy images of loss of properties, submerged vehicles, stranded hawkers and pedestrians and sometimes, loss of precious lives.

For the past few years, the whole nation is thrown into a state of worry any time there is a major downpour in the country. The question is: do we learn at all as a nation? What is wrong and why can’t the situation be remedied?

10 Things Every Ghanaian Should Know About The Accra Floods

Well, let’s talk about the 10 things every Ghanaian should know about the Accra floods. Kindly add your voice by commenting when done reading.

10 Things Every Ghanaian Should Know About the Accra Floods

  1. Bad Leadership

Are there leaders at all in this country? This has been one of the frequently asked questions in the wake of this annual flood disaster that hits Ghanaians. According to John C. Maxwell, “everything rises and falls on leadership.

Surprisingly, our country Ghana boasts of many engineers and town and country planning officers but we wonder whether there are leaders at all in this country.

Remember that “Generational leaders respond to a calling and have a deep sense of purpose. They start new paths, break old patterns, set new standards and become a pattern for successors” says Pastor Mensa Otabil.

Let us not leave porous ambitions, poor standards and weak foundations to the next generation. That is a disaster but not a legacy.

  1. Stubborn and lawless People

We live in a country where laws are only written in books and never enforced hence the citizenry are lawless. People deliberately and obstinately build houses in water ways and are hit by the floods any time it rains. There are garbage containers positioned in vantage points but people decide to throw rubbish in the gutters and other water bodies. The aftermaths thereof are chocked gutters causing floods.

  1. Laws and Systems Don’t Work

The whole problem starts from our systems that aren’t working. Just listen to radio, watch TV and read the papers. You will hear the experts trumpeting the supposed solutions to these annual flood problems but they are merely talk shows where people speak big grammar and do little.

  1. God Only Sends the Rains, We Cause The Floods

We thank God for blessing us with rains each year. A country like Ghana largely depends on the natural rain for hydroelectric power generation, agricultural purposes and other uses. God doesn’t send the floods to destroy us; He only blesses us with rains but our own bad attitudes cause the floods.

  1. Properties Destroyed, Lives Lost and Families Displayed

June 3, 2015 seemed to have taken us aback. People wept, lamented and talked about the loss of precious lives, the charred debris of destroyed properties reminded us to take action and the displayed families could not be helped that much. After a few months, Ghanaians seemed to have forgotten about the terrible incidence and normal activities were going on in the capital till another flood hit us again. So long as temporary solutions (or no solutions at all) are our choices in tackling these issues, we should not expect any prophet to prophesy that more terrible disasters await us as a nation.

  1. It’s Time To Insult Again

Any disaster in the country is license for people to tongue-lash the leadership of this country for being irresponsible and not proactive. The leadership in turn sometimes rain insults on the populace for being careless and lawless. The point is, insults do not bring solutions. It is rather pragmatic efforts that do.

  1. Big Talk Shows But No Action Is Taken

Oh yes. It is time for panel discussions. All the engineers and experts in the country come out of their hideouts during times of disaster and they give wonderful expert views about the situation and the kind of solutions we need. Unfortunately, most of these end up being “talk shops” and mere talk shows. They just end in the studios and never realized on the field.

  1. Some People Are Waiting To Make Fortunes From Relief Items

Oh yes! The true philanthropists, public figures, celebrities and humanitarians will show up and donate big amounts of money and items to the affected victims. Unfortunately, some of these items will end up benefiting only a few people who were not affected in any way.

  1. The Story Won’t Change Until We Change

The saddest aspect is that, the gory stories won’t change until we change our attitudes and take actions. Some people are good are spotting problems, offer excellent speeches, suggestions and condolence messages but make no efforts to remedy the problem. Let’s walk the talk.

  1. Get Ready For Another Disaster Next Year

2017 will soon come again.

2018 and more years will come again.

The floods will come again.

More people will perish again.

Properties and businesses will be lost again.

A lot of families will be displaced again.

All because Ghanaians will forget that the rains will come again.

And the rains will bring another flood again.

And once again, we forget to take actions for solutions again.

Let us stop hoping and coping with the situation as a nation and starting thinking and taking actions now. Yes! It is actions that bring desired results but not hopes without corresponding action.

Aha, lest I forget. Tell the Canadian who bet $10,000 on the Accra floods to bet $1bn this time and he will surely win because we shall sit down and watch the floods come again.
